Lake Victoria Fisheries Organisation- LVFO. NaFIRRI is in close collaboration with LVFO on matters relating to Lake Victoria. LVFO was formed through a Convention signed in 1994 by the East African Community Partner States of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda as a result of the need to mange the fisheries resources of Lake Victoria in a coordinated manner. Makerere University - MAK We have had a long history of collaborations with MUK especially with the Department of Zoology and Botany where we have supervised and examined graduate and post-graduate students. We actively participated in formulation of a Curriculum of a fisheries graduate course in the department od Zoology. Lave Victoria Species Survival Program of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association -LVSSP-AZAis one of the institutions we have collaborated with closely in relation to Conservation initiatives in and around Lake Victoria. The North American Institutions working under LVSSP-AZA are participating in captive breeding of threatened haplochroimine cichlid species of Lake Victoria. Currently NaFIRRI, KMFRI and National Museums of Kenya (NMK) are involved in efforts to hold a special exhibit on Lake Victoria under the regional coordination of Dr. W. Oweke Ojwang.
